on Community Heart

Community Heart is a learning management system (LMS) for the community sector in Aotearoa New Zealand.

If you are a community organisation, then you can use Community Heart to deliver e-learning to your staff and volunteers.

  • No limits to the number of learners
  • No limits to the number of courses
  • No limit to what your imagination can create!

Use Cases

You can use Community Heart in whatever way makes sense to your organisation. For example, you could:

  • Upskill your new volunteers on an important part of their practice. E.g. FinCap’s course on The Power of Cashflow
  • Replace the less-than-exciting parts of an in-person induction with an engaging online course, giving more time for in-person conversation. E.g. Volunteer Orientation by Mary Potter Hospice
  • Supplement in-person tutorials with homework assignments. E.g. NZSL Everyday Activities by Meren Curry
  • Share your expertise with your sector. E.g. Fundraising Essentials by FINZ

No Technology Headaches

Creating a learning management system for your community organisation either requires significant technological know-how, or digital contracting fees.

Community Heart removes the technology headache by providing a platform that is ready to go.

What really sets it apart is the pricing model, designed specifically for the Aotearoa New Zealand community sector: a consistent flat fee that stays the same regardless of your volume.

Community Heart Features

Like any learning management system (LMS), Community Heart allows you to create:

  • Courses (as many as you wish)
  • Two levels of learning material: lessons and topics.
  • Interactive activities via a tool called H5P.
  • Quizzes with a variety of question formats including: single choice, multi choice, free choice, sorting, matrix sorting, fill in the blank, assessment, and survey.
  • Learning groups to restrict access to courses to only those you specify.
  • Certificates to reward your learners on completion of your course.

One standout feature of Community Heart is excellent reporting. The reports allow you to drill down to see learner engagement with the course material, progress through the course, and quiz question responses.

We support these features with online documentation and individualised email support.

Sharing Knowledge

Community Heart enables the sharing of knowledge across the community sector (and further).

Many organisations that use Community Heart allow people outside their organisation to take their courses.

They do this because they agree that when they create good learning material, the best result would be to share it as widely as possible.
