This course examines three different models of support which you can add to your toolbox for when you’re working with clients.
We will cover Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the GROW model and SMART goal setting. Financial Mentors will find all three models useful in different situations, and with practice you’ll learn when best to apply them.
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this module you will be able to:
- understand the GROW model and apply it in a financial mentoring environment
- support clients to create effective and achievable goals using the SMART model
- understand how Maslow’s hierarchy of needs can influence client behaviour.

Reviews
I have learnt a lot about these, particularly Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, through my Tertiary studies, however it was good to have a refresher
I really enjoyed this course and found it extremely helpful. I already have some clients in mind where the SMART approach should make things easier for them.
Needs a correction in the final assessment.
It asks what is a SMART goal? the answer segment only has slots for S M A & R the T is left out. so we are only giving a SMAR goal. [Corrected, thanks – admin]
But good learning and looking forward to putting into practice
Really interesting for not only clients but on reflection for myself in both personal life and FM role.
This is a fabulous resource! This makes personal development achievable for everyone well done to those who developed the program.
