The Financial Mentoring Introductory Course is for new financial mentors to be trained in the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective financial mentor to serve the community.
This is module six.
Aim of Module
The focus of this module is understanding the benefits and entitlements managed by Work and Income and the Inland Revenue departments, and the impacts of this on our clients.
To enable you as a financial mentor to assist your clients, you need to know what options exist to help them. Many of our clients are also clients of Work and Income NZ and IRD and often they need support to understand the products and services provided by these organisations. This module introduces and explains these options.
This module also expands on the budget worksheet and the debt schedule of the case study ‘Client Teal’ introduced in the previous module, to identify solutions.
What will you learn?
At the completion of this module you will understand:
- the range of benefits, allowances and services available to clients from WINZ
- the range of entitlements and services available to clients from IRD
- how and where to access further information when it is needed.
Throughout this course you will be able to download some resources. These were current at September 2021.
