This course introduces you to community housing in Aotearoa New Zealand.
You’ll learn what community housing is, why it’s important, and why some people and communities face greater housing challenges than others. The three modules cover how housing systems and organisations work, how government decisions and laws shape community housing, and who’s involved in delivering and supporting community housing, including kaupapa Māori approaches that strengthen whānau and communities.
By the end, you’ll understand how different people, groups, and policies all contribute to housing outcomes, and why funding, support services, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi matter in building healthy, stable homes and communities.
