Create columns
Columns allow you to present your text differently, and have a range of practical applications. In this lesson we’re going to turn a regular paragraph into three columns of text, like this:
This is how you create columns:
- Highlight the text you want to turn into columns. In this example we’ll use the paragraph that starts “The show also represents…”
- Go to Layout > Columns > Three.
The text will now be in three columns.

To return the columns to normal:
- Click on text anywhere in the columns.
- Go to Layout > Columns > One.
Pro tip: When your text is in columns, you can specify exactly when it flows into the next column. Put your mouse where you want one column to end, and go to Layout > Breaks > Column.

Practice point: Turn the paragraph that starts “The show also represents…” into three columns, and specify where the columns break by using Layout > Breaks > Column. Try to replicate this:
