Community Development

From a financial mentor perspective, community development involves supporting the financial wellbeing of communities by strengthening skills, knowledge, and resources collectively. Mentors work alongside community members, whānau, and local organisations to build financial capability, share knowledge, and empower people to make informed decisions. This approach focuses on collaboration, collective problem-solving, and creating sustainable, culturally responsive solutions that benefit the wider community, not just individual clients.

As a financial mentor you will:

  • work collaboratively with community organisations and stakeholders
  • participate in community education and financial capability building initiatives
  • support the development of community led solutions to financial challenges; and
  • build partnerships that strengthen the financial resilience of communities.
