Change the font size

By default, recent versions of Word use the font Calibri and the font size 11. This is a comfortable size for reading, so if you’re typing a letter or similar, you may not need to change it.

However, if you want to make the font bigger, we can increase the font size.

  1. Click and drag your mouse to highlight some text.
  2. On the Home tab, click the number next to the name of the font, to select the font size:

  3. As you move your mouse down the list, the selected text changes size so you can preview what it looks like.
  4. When you’ve found a size that looks nice, click it to select it.

Practice point: Increase and decrease the font size.

Pro tip: When you have your text selected, you can press the keys Ctrl and ] to increase the size of your text, or Ctrl and [ to decrease the size of your text.
