Change page margins

Page margins are the amount of white space on the edge of the page.

The default page margins are usually appropriate, but sometimes you might want to change the margins. There are preset options available under Layout > Margins.

However, you can also make small adjustments to the page margins on the page itself. Notice how the top, bottom and left-hand side of the page have a white and grey ruler.

Making small adjustments to the margins can be useful when, for example, you want your document to be one page long, but it’s just a sentence or two too long. By slightly adjusting the margins you can squeeze it onto one page!

Practice point: Adjust the margins of your page using the Layout > Margins options, then make a small adjustment by dragging the margins with your mouse.
