Principle 6: Social Justice and Advocacy

From a financial mentor’s perspective, social justice and advocacy mean supporting clients to access fair and equitable financial opportunities while addressing barriers that affect their wellbeing. Social justice involves recognising and challenging systemic inequalities that limit clients’ financial choices, such as discrimination, poverty, or lack of access to services. Advocacy involves acting on behalf of clients—whether by helping them navigate financial systems, connect with resources, or raise concerns—so their rights and interests are respected. Together, these approaches empower clients, promote fairness, and help create more equitable financial outcomes.
